The records of the Alabama Historical Association consist of correspondence relating to Association activities such as local pilgrimages, the placement of historical markers, the publication of the Alabama Review, and the annual Association meeting from 1947-1982. The correspondence is usually between officers of the Association including Peter Brannon, James Sulzby, and Milo B. Howard. Included also are published materials such as Association meeting programs, brochures, newspaper clippings and pamplets, as well as membership lists and various financial materials including invoices, vouchers, and Treaurer's reports.

Peter Alexander Brannon was born at Seale, Russell Co., Ala., 30 Aug. 1882. He was educated at the public school, Seale High School, and graduated in 1900 from the Alabama Polytechnic Institute, majoring in pharmaceutical chemistry.
